Chapter Four

The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed.
The New Testament, is the Old Testament revealed. It is necessary that you know what was in the Old Testament because it is the frame work through which the New Testament was built upon. But at the same time, in learning and seeing these things, it should bring freedom to your nature rather than self-evaluation and criticism. You can’t live in the New Covenant while applying and enforcing Old Covenant truths. Everything that was first established in the Old Covenant was a shadow, it was a type, an example or a copy of the original.

Hebrews 8
4For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. (Spiritual Revelation)
6But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: (Upon this rock, “I WILL BUILD)
11And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: (The Old Covenant Tradition) for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away

Tabernacle Revelation
God revealed Christ to Moses and as a result, Moses built the framework of the nature of Christ by building the tabernacle. Interesting that God didn’t begin this while the children of Israel were still in Egypt. If God would have revealed himself to them then, they may have been much more supportive when Pharaoh increased his pressure on them as a result of the plagues falling on him. But that would have been against God’s pattern. The old man must be removed from the picture before the new man can enter in. The bondage must be broken before new life can be introduced. The old building must come down before the new one can be raised up.

Our old mindsets must be laid aside before our minds can be renewed. The idols of Egypt had to be torn down before Israel could be freed. You may sense a repetition on this, but the reason we need to continually be reminded is due to the importance of the fact that these things are not to be taught with natural means, but they are revealed to us through our relationship with God. The purpose of this college is not to equip you with more information. But it’s to enable you to flow in the river of the kingdom with the illumination of truth, revealing to you the mysteries that only a few have been able to grasp until now. Knowledge does play a role, but only after the seed has been received in the hearts of men does it then grow into their minds.

The Heart of God Manifests in Men
The picture of the holy of holies being positioned where it is, is to show that’s where the heart of God is. It’s in the innermost parts of the tabernacle. And inside the ark of the covenant itself, contains another set of three. Aarons budding staff, manna, and the law. These are all the three dimensions of God, within the three dimensions of God in the layout of the tabernacle. The outer court is where one is first introduced to God the Father through salvation and baptism, the altar of sacrifice and the laver.

The inner court is the dimension of God the Son. This is established and confirmed in Revelation where John sees Jesus standing “in” the candlesticks. This is where the ministry of the spirit manifests through man. In the holy of holies, this is where the spirit of God lives. The elements in the ark are Aaron’s budding rod, a picture of the life of the Spirit of God. The jar of manna, which typifies Christ as he himself said “he” was the manna sent from heaven. And then you have the ten commandments, or the law which is what God the Father laid out for Israel to follow. Just as the law was in the heart of the tabernacle, it was in the heart of God. And just as it’s in the heart of God, it is now in the hearts of men. Hebrews is simply reflecting that truth.

After you receive what’s being said here, it is our hope that you will begin to see the spiritual truths under the surface of the natural words on the pages of your Bible. The simple stories of Scripture that many of us have had engrained in us since our childhood, stories like, David and Goliath, Noah’s ark, Adam and Eve, Daniel in the lion’s den, on and on, each of these stories will have such an impact on your life that you will forever be changed. Upon this Rock, I will build.

SEEDS Planted not forced

PATTERNS From Genesis to Revelation, it never changes

TIME-TABLES All things were established before the foundations of the world. We’re just seeing a physical manifestation of a spiritual plan.

It Comes in Threes
The Bible is many things, for the sake of this study, we’ll focus on the three main truths of what it is. With these three things, the ability to effectively understand where the emphasis should really be in every verse, in every line of Scripture will have a whole new light to it for you to experience. This is what the Spirit was talking about when the declaration was made not that he would make all new things, but he would make all things new. It’s the same exact Scripture that’s been in front of us for hundreds, even thousands of years. But when your mind is renewed, so is your perception of truth. First, it is a book of seeds.

Luke 8
4And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: 5A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Get a hold of this. There’s no need to continue on with this passage as it is a well traveled passage that gets a lot attention on the soil. But it’s not the soil we want to focus on. We’re not here to divide the earth, we’re hear to illuminate the seed. This is not a natural seed, but a spiritual seed. Seeds are not to be forced, but they are to be planted. And there are seasons to planting. The Word of God is not to be pushed on people who are not receptive. That is what religion does. But the Word of God, not just the “written” word, but “the” Word of God is like salvation, it can only go into effect when it’s “received”.

Not About More Information, But Realigning What’s Already In You
There are things you will be reading, if you haven’t experienced this already, but there are things you will be reading that your mind will not be able to comprehend. This is why time was taken to explain the importance of the truth that your mind, your natural thinking process, is always at enmity with God. It’s always going to try to struggle with spiritual truths because it’s not equipped to receive them from God. Your mind can only comprehend what is transferred from “your” spirit.
That is the order in which we’re called to walk. Spirit, soul, then body. This order has been misaligned since the first Adam fell. But through the second Adam, the last Adam, we are now enabled to experience our dominion and power over our earth by the reversal of spiritual disorder. Once we become realigned again with God’s original order, his “effect” once again begins to manifest in our lives. Not just day to day situations, but our mindsets as well. It’s all about order. And the alignment doesn’t come through establishing and enforcing more laws on each other. It comes through Christ living in us. He’s the one doing the building, not us, we’re just submitting ourselves to his work in us.

If it is true that Jesus is the same from the beginning to the end, then we must be consistent in our understanding of that and realize that if Jesus taught with parables when he was on the earth, a parable is simply an earthly story with a heavenly meaning, if he taught only with parables “today” then we must understand that everything what was written “yesterday” in the Old Covenant is truly, more of the same, earthly stories with heavenly meaning. And that leads us into the second thing the Bible is. It’s a book of patterns. It’s not the story that should be emphasized, but it’s the spiritual pattern that the story is revealing.

Colossians 2
16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ

Hebrews 8
4For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

Hebrews 10
1For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect

These passage are simply pointing out that every action, description of materials and numbers, every little thing that went on, is all a pattern of something greater. That is the essence of pursuing the kingdom in Scripture. Each item is a symbol that holds spiritual truth. It’s all type and shadow. Not just with the tabernacle of Moses, but everything. And “that’s” what we want to hone in on. When we see beyond the literal stories, and we see patterns of truth emerging from those stories, that’s where God’s Spirit begins communicating to our spirits. God uses the natural things to illuminate his spiritual truth to us so that we can be free from our limited minds of understanding.

Old Covenant Temporary, Let It Go
The laws established in the Old covenant were not intended to be eternal, but temporary. They were simply a supplement until it was time for Christ’s entrance. This was the whole argument that Paul was dealing with when addressing this church. The religious are blind to spiritual pictures. They want to emphasize the story, instead of experiencing the spiritual foundation the story erected from. To expound on this a little more, read on what else Paul said about this.

Colossians 2
18Let no man beguile you (it’s what Satan did to Eve) of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. 20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments (traditions) of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (laws, rules, doctrines) 21(Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

For the sake of clarity, read the same text in the Message Translation.

Colossians 2
16-17So don't put up with anyone pressuring you in details of diet, worship services, or holy days. All those things are mere shadows cast before what was to come; the substance is Christ.
18-19Don't tolerate people who try to run your life, ordering you to bow and scrape, insisting that you join their obsession with angels and that you seek out visions. They're a lot of hot air, that's all they are. They're completely out of touch with the source of life, Christ, who puts us together in one piece, whose very breath and blood flow through us. He is the Head and we are the body. We can grow up healthy in God only as he nourishes us.
20-23So, then, if with Christ you've put all that pretentious and infantile religion behind you, why do you let yourselves be bullied by it? "Don't touch this! Don't taste that! Don't go near this!" Do you think things that are here today and gone tomorrow are worth that kind of attention? Such things sound impressive if said in a deep enough voice. They even give the illusion of being pious and humble and ascetic. But they're just another way of showing off, making yourselves look important.
